Local Services and Government
This page gathers the local government services that residents and visitors ask about most, with links to the official source. qathetbc.com is an independent community guide and is not run by the qathet Regional District. Details come from qathet.ca, so confirm hours, closures and fees there before you go.
About the regional district
The qathet Regional District (qRD) covers about 5,000 square kilometres, from Toba Inlet in the north to Saltery Bay in the south, and includes Texada, Savary and Lasqueti islands. It is made up of the City of Powell River and Electoral Areas A to E, with about 20,000 residents, and sits within the traditional territories of the Tla’amin, shíshálh, Klahoose, Homalco, Nanoose and K’ómoks First Nations. The district provides land use planning, emergency preparedness, solid waste management, regional parks and fire protection. About the qRD and the qRD map have more.
